December 2016 Net Worth Report (+1.52%)

Jan 07, 2017 @ 01:30 pm by EMS

Even after taking a rather large depreciation hit on our vehicles to the tune of $5,2000, we managed a 1.52% net worth increase in December 2016.  Our credit card debt is still too high, but that should rectify in January.  Most of the gains were from our IRA and investment gains.

Overall, 2016 was a good year financially for us.  Our net worth has increased 12.7% over the year.  I don’t expect 2017 to be nearly as good as 2017 and have actually started pulling a fair amount of money out of our investments.

I have made the decision to discontinue this site once our current hosting service expires in 2017.  I started this site as a method to force discipline on myself to keep better track of our family’s financials, and I believe I have achieved that goal.  I simply do not have the time or desire anymore to continue this site, as I don’t believe anyone actually looks at it :).

  1. I read your site to get my fix of financial voyeurism :). You have definitely done a great job improving your family’s financial situation and it’s been fun to follow along. Best of luck to you in the future!

  2. One more comment to clarify that I’m not suggesting that you should continue updating this site if it has outlived its usefulness TO YOU (as I’m fairly certain is the case). I’m only posting to thank and applaud you for what you’ve already done 🙂

  3. Well, thanks! I’m glad to see that at least one person follows along! We will see how these few months go as far as time/desire to keep the site going. I do feel that I’ve sunk so much time/effort into this site that I hate to let it go.
